5 Simple Methods To Teach Your Children Mathematics At Home

I was facing challenges when my four year old daughter requested me to teach her mathematic at home. Personally, I'm not a very numeric sensitive person. I scored moderate in my mathematic during my school days. Here I share some of methods I discovered when I was teaching my daughter math at home, and hope it helps you also!

Method 1 Identity number and quantity
Material needed are bottle caps, flash card with number numbers and numbers in words. Ask your child to count the bottle cap one by one, and match the total number of counted bottles cap to the flash card number. Everyday repeating this once a day, slowly increase the quantity.

Method 2 Identity many, a few, less and more
Material needed are many different items of button, bottle caps, beans, seeds etc. Collect them in different quantity, and put all into different container. Ask your toddler to identify which is many, which is less, which is a few and which is more or the most quantity. After your child can identify it, ask him or her to count aloud of the items, and write the total number on a piece of paper.

Method 3 Identity 2D and 3D shapes
Prepare a few cube boxes, spare, cylinder and a few different shapes of blocks, or card board type of shapes size. Play a game such as when parent say 3D cube, your child must quickly grab the 3D cube to you. Like wise for other shapes. This is helping your child to feel what is 3D and what is 2D, at the same time practise analytical ability with their movement of running, grabbing.

Method 4 Sorting
Sorting is one of the most important mathematic concept to be learnt at the beginning stage. Material needed are many different items of button, bottle caps, beans, seeds etc. Mix are the items into a plate, ask your child to sort each of the items into individual plates. This is helping them to think and learn how to identify different shapes and colors of the items.

Method 5 Addition and subtraction
In this method, parent need to purchase some mathematic problem solving flash cards. Other supporting material needed are, bottle caps, mini white board and white board markers. First, ask your toddler to choose one problem solving flash card, ask him or her to say out loud the number on the card. Teach them the plus, minus, equal signs. Then ask them to use bottle caps to do the addition problem solving by placing the bottle caps below the number and count all the bottle caps together to sum up as addition mathematic solution, and lastly write the answer on the white board. Like wise, do the same for subtraction.

7 Tips for Raising A Genius and A Healthy Child

I read a lots of article about child geniuses... The fact is most of children are geniuses when born. I strongly believe this when I start to observe how my children developed since zero days old. I have also read many books about how to train and teach or perhaps enhance they genius ability during early childhood stage. I can conclude that all our children are geniuses!
Here, I share my 7 Tips:

Tips #1 Antenatal and postnatal counselling or training.
Parents should attend postnatal classes during pregnancy of 5 months above. This is good for both baby and parents to prepare for arrival of the new baby. At the same time, mommy can learn and understand earlier about pregnancy to reduce the discomforts feeling during pregnancy.

Tips #2 Sign up for postnatal exercise, such as pregnancy yoga.
Find professional exercise coaching by a Physiotherapist. Learn do to safe exercises during pregnancy can help your body balance and calm your baby mind in your womb. An aternative way is to buy pregnancy yoga book from a book store at your neighborhood.

Tips #3 Breast Feeding your child at least 100 days upon birth.
Breast milk is the best for baby. Lots of article mentioned about the nutrition from breast milk, it's natural and it's the most basic food for all new born babies.

Tips #4 Basic nutrition for baby starting with solid food.
Pick nutritional food that is easy to digest such as carrot, potato. It helps your baby to have healthy teeth and skin, plus increase your child analytical skills. Apple or grapes juice can be as supplement drinks besides breast milk.

Tips #5 Display colorful toys or pictures in baby room wall
Display many colorful toys or pictures to develop your baby's eye focus and mind concentration. You have to change the position once a while to catch your baby attention and thinking.

Tips #6 Play a variety of foreign languages songs CD
During nap time, play a series of different languages music. When your baby is grown, they will be able to learn foreign languages without any difficulty, possible will be very good in speech and self expressing.

Tips #7 Right brain kids education
Parents if you have planned for your child education financial budget, try to enroll your child n enrichment course for right brain kids education. From the course you can learn more on how to train your toddler at home. Some methods from Montessori also very good in helping parent to teach at home.

5 Simple Steps of Teaching Linking Memories

My daughter has been in right brain enrichment school training, The Shichida Method for about two years. She enjoy most of the activities at the school, as well as at home. Only lack of interest when we are doing linking memory training. I was facing the same problem with my son to learn linking memories. One day, I found some interesting method to do it, and here I share with all the parents who are keen to know about teaching linking memories in creative way. This method is actually inspired from Shichida and Glenn Doman methods.

Step #1 Sticker, either hand made or ordinary sticker.
Prepare some sticker of different picture, it is good if you have a mixture of person in action, cartoon character, scenery, artist drawing etc.

Step #2 Glue or stick all the stickers on A3 size paper.
Ask your child to randomly stick or paste all the stickers on A3 size paper. Make sure all are spreading evenly on the paper.

Step #3 Join with crayon.
Ask your child use crayons to join all the sticker together to create a link from sticker to sticker on the A3 size paper.

Step #4 Write 1, 2, 3 etc.
Then next step is asking them to number all the stickers in sequence of 1, 2, 3 etc. Depending on how many stickers have been pasted, make sure all the stickers are numbered.

Step #5 Create story.
Now, it's parents turn to explore their imagination, by using the linked and numbered items tell your kid a story. Then lastly ask your kid to recall the story back to you.

I try this on my children and my friend's son, it works very well!

Game 1 : Guessing what color
This is done by putting or hidding some special item behind or in a box, ask your child to guess what color is the item.

Game 2 : Play cards
This is done by using your existing flash card, ask your child what is the next picture in the next flash cards.

Game 3 : Guess the next vehicle coming is which color
This is done by observing vehicle on the road at your home, guess the next coming vehicle is what color or brand or type etc....

5 Easy Methods of Motorskill training for you to DIY at home with your toddler

I have experienced many problem on how to train my 18 months old toddler motorskill. I have tried many ways to train him, such as motorskill training toys, send him for Montesorri School etc. I find it very hard to make him pay attention to the training in the class, due to him short attention behavior. Finally, I decided to train my 18 months old son at home. Here I share my seven easy methods of motorskill training for you to D.I.Y at home with your toddler.

Method #1 Cutting exercise.
Material you need for this is newspaper and a pair of toddler scissors. I bought toddler scissors from craft store, it is child safety scissor made of plastic. Draw a straight line on newspaper, ask your toddler to use the scissors to cut according to the straight line. The important thing is teach them how to hold the scissors to cut the newspaper. Parent have to demostrate to them many times on how to do it, before they master the skill.

Method #2 Pouring water.
This method is inspired from Montesorri book I read. Prepare a A3 size tray, three different sizes of cup and water. Fill the medium size cup with water, ask your toddler to pour the water from medium cup to big cup, then to smallest cup. Ensure they are doing this exercise within the A3 size tray area to avoid water splashing all over the place.

Method #3 Tearing paper.My son enjoy this exercise the most among all the exercises.
Prepare newspaper or recycle papers, the bigger size the better. Ask your toddler to tear the paper from big to small size, tear as many different sizes as possible.

Method #4 Tranferring beads.Buy some different sizes of beads from craft store. Collect some empty juice bottles at home. Ask your toddler to transfer beads from bottle to bottle, either pouring method, or use hand to pick the beads one buy one to fill up the bottle. Both ways are also exercising they motorskill.

Method #5 Scribble on newspaper or recycle paper.
Prepare a big piece of newspaper by joining four pieces of newspaper into one big piece. Let your toddler choose one crayon, and let them scribble on the paper. You can demostrate to them how to do circular, how to draw straight line etc.

Many mommy share with me thier thought, some share with me their children stories, some share with me their life stories...

Here I share my method on how I can get my 1st child baby girl, 2nd child baby boy....perhaps it may works for you! :)

Baby girl
You have to conceive from day 12 to 18 of your menstruation cycle. How to count is by the 1st day start of your menstruation cycle count till day 12. I was conceived on day 15 and have my 1st girl.

Baby boy
You have to conceive from day 8 to 12 of your menstruation cycle. I was conceived on day 8 and have my 2nd son.

Plus in addition to work hard both of husband and wife have "love" 2 times a day, one in morning, one at night. Have to do it continuous for above mentioned duration of wife's menstruation cycle, ie day 12 to 18 to have baby girl, day 8 to 12 to have baby boy.

But take note, there's an grey area of day 12 to day 13, most chance may have either girl or boy. Because during day 8, the male element in the fertile egg is more dominant. This male element will reduce slowly when it travel along to wormb. So at day 12 the male element started to drop and if conceived after that duration, most likely will have a girl.

Disclaimer, above method is subjective to individual health, body and daily life. I just share my experience here... make sure you have good life routine, stay healty, exercise regulary, each healthy food, be positive minded....

Parent have to share your listening ear to your child. Identify your child feeling by listening and responding with positive questions. Try not asking "what have you done wrong again?", instead parent should ask "what had happened to make you feel bad ?" You can also response by cardle or hugging your child by sitting on your lap. This can make you child open his or her heart to tell you his or her feeling.

Secret #4 Always help your child to remember the happy moments
By remember the happiest moment, parents and children are in harmony and enjoyable in every activities. This is helping your child to build confidence in himself or herself.

Secrets #5 Help your children to manage emotional bad temper by cold down corner
Identify a corner at home as cold down corner, avoid corner near TV, room with lock or toys area. The best corner is an area parent still can watch them to ensure their safety. This is the corner where your children learn how to manage their emotion by staying alone and not disturbing by anyone. At the corner, your children is able to think of what had happened, and realise the root cause of the emotional happened. Note cold down corner should be used for 15 minutes or less to avoid your children feel unconfortable later.

Secrets #6 Help your children how to express themselves by various verbs.
Parents should respond to your child by using rich vocabalary such as worry, scare, angry, sad, mad, not feeling well etc to help your child transform the feeling to proper verbs to express their inner feeling. An example when parent noticed their child is crying, respond to them by asking "Are you feeling very sad ?" Your child will feel their emotional express has been receiving a positive response. Your child will use rich vocabalary to tell you the whole story.

Secrets #7 Finding solutions
Once your child is able to express their feeling to you, its will come to problem solving. Parents have to find a solution by various methods. Here I suggested a few steps for finding solutions. First, identify the objective of the solution. Second, brain storm possible solutions. Thirdly, decided the solution to use based on your family value. Forth, help your child to choose a suitable solution by studying the result of the solution choosen.

Parents have to maintain a high EQ, control, control...control your tempare..really it is critical needed for this doesn't matter what you are doing while your child wanted your attention. Try to calm down yourself by counting 1 to 5 slowly can help!

It's critical to be responsive to your toddler if they are needly in help from you. Perhaps if you have higher priority task to do at that moment, response to your child by telling them to wait while you need to finish the critical task to prevent any negative impact happen.

Secret #6 Be fair if you have more children
Be fair to your kids. It is important especially for the eldest kids. Be fair for love, for gift, for celebrations etc...

Secret #7 Patient
Last by not least, yes! It is be patient... We live in a world that is getting less and less patient. We can wait for queue, can't wait for holiday, can't even wait for computer to boot up or PC software to run or internet page to launch... The only way to train parent patient is through above the six secrets, plus engage yourself in a hobby. Hobbies that need manually work, such as wash car, do art and craft, tracking, swimming... but not computer games please, because you have enough computer in your working life already :)
